Trans fats and antioxidants
Perfect protection from the sun is not easy to do. An interest in keeping good skin is a very useful thing. An obsession with keeping good skin is, however, a dangerous thing. The most important approach to having good skin is to minimize skin-damaged problems, not eliminate them.
Dangerous fats "trans fats" can be found in processed foods. They are
considered one of the primary dietary promoters of cardiovascular disease.
The National Academy of sciences recommended that the level of trans fats
in the daily foods should be low as possible. Only 2or 3grams of trans
fat a day can increase risk of heart disease. Look for hydrogenated or
partially hydrogenated on food labels to identify those that contain trans
fats. Women who ate the greatest amount of trans fats had a 50 percent
greater risk of heart disease. In 2003 the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) issued a regulation requiring manufacturers to list trans fat on
the Nutrition Facts panel of foods and some dietary supplements. Consumers
now know for the first time how much of all three: trans fat, saturated
fat and cholesterol are in the foods they choose.
